Kia Telluride vs Honda Pilot

Kia TellurideThere’s a new midsize SUV in town. It’s the 2021 Kia Telluride. At Jim Sipala’s Kia of Coatesville, we’re taking a closer look at the 2021 Kia Telluride vs. 2021 Honda Pilot, in an effort to ensure Coatesville, Downingtown, and Gap drivers are behind the wheel of a car they love driving.

We’re always happy to see Lancaster, Reading, and Newark drivers at our location, too. See what these two midsize SUVs are all about, with our closer look at the Telluride vs. Pilot.

2021 Telluride vs 2021 Pilot Performance

Kia TellurideOne of the first things that may draw you to a car is what’s under the hood. After all, you want to be able to tap into that power when you need it. The 2021 Telluride and 2021 Pilot have no issue finding that next gear, and you’ll get that extra kick on the highway when you need it.

The Telluride features a 3.8-liter V6 engine standard, which makes up to 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, this engine delivers the power whether you’re out on the highway or in the city.

The Honda Pilot is equipped with a V6 as well, but it maxes out at 280 horsepower. Yes, it’s powerful, but it can’t quite match what the Telluride is capable of. Plus, the Telluride bests the Pilot when it comes to city MPG.

Inside the Cabin

Kia TellurideWith seating for eight standard in both the Telluride and the Pilot, there’s space for the entire family, and maybe some cousins or aunts and uncles, too. Or, you may be picking up the kids from school and their friends, and need room for backpacks, sports equipment, musical instruments, and more. With a three-row SUV, you’ll have space for the entire crowd.

When it comes to the infotainment features you’ll have access to inside the cabin, it’s clear which of these SUVs stands out. It’s the Kia Telluride, which comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen, along with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ capability. The Pilot display screen measures in at just five inches, and the smartphone functionality does not come standard.

Kia Telluride vs Honda Pilot Safety

Kia TellurideSafety is never optional. It’s something you need to think about as you’re searching for that next car, too. The Telluride and Pilot protect you, but the Telluride comes with more standard safety features. Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist – Rear, Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision Avoidance with Pedestrian Detection, and Forward Collision Warning come standard.

The Pilot is equipped with the Honda Sensing® suite of safety features, with Collision Mitigation Braking System™, Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keeping Assist System. The Telluride matches the Pilot feature for feature then adds on ones like Park Distance Warning – Reverse, Rear Occupant Alert, and Safe Exit Assist, and you won’t find those in the Pilot.

2021 Kia Telluride vs 2021 Honda Pilot: The SUV Verdict

With its more powerful engine, a larger touchscreen, and more fleshed out safety features, the 2021 Kia Telluride is far and away the better choice for your lifestyle. The 2021 Honda Pilot is a good car that does many things well. The Telluride does them better.
